The NJ Section of
the Palisades Interstate Park is a special place for many people. The tall
cliffs—the sweeping views of the Hudson River—the surprising moments of
solitude that can be found here in the midst of one of the busiest places on
Earth. We know this in part by the
many requests we receive from visitors and friends of the park for the
opportunity to place a memorial here for loved ones. To help accommodate
these requests, we are pleased to offer a memorial bench program.
We
offer two styles of benches from which to choose, one with a backrest, the
other without. Both benches are made of natural wood with sturdy metal
footing. The designs were selected to blend into the park setting along the
Palisades.
You
may have a memorial brass plaque placed on the bench, inscribed with a
memorial message of your choice.
-
A
bench with a backrest can be installed for $1,500. A bench without a
backrest can be installed for $1,200.
-
The memorial plaque will be 2-½ inches by 10 inches, and may have a
message of up to 25 letters on three lines. (The message will be inscribed
subject to review by the Commission.)
We
will try to honor your wishes for where you would like the bench to be
placed, pending park management considerations, or you may allow us to
select the most appropriate place.
To
make arrangements for placing a memorial bench, please call
Chris Szeglin, Assistant Superintendent, at 201

Please note that after a bench is installed, the Commission
cannot be responsible for replacement should the bench be damaged or
destroyed.
