Program

The NJ Section of
the Palisades Interstate Park is a special place for many people. The tall
cliffs—the sweeping views of the Hudson River—the surprising moments of
solitude that can be found here in the midst of one of the busiest places on
Earth. We know this in part by the
many requests we receive from visitors and friends of the park for the
opportunity to place a memorial here for loved ones. To help accommodate
these requests, we offer a memorial bench program.
There are two styles of benches from
which patrons may choose—one
with a backrest, the other without. Both benches are made of durable
materials
with a sturdy metal footing, and the designs were selected to blend into the park
setting along the Palisades. A memorial brass plaque
can be placed on the bench.
A
bench with a backrest can be installed for $1,100. A bench without a
backrest can be installed for $900.
The memorial plaque will be
2.5 in. by 10 in., and may have a
message of up to 25 letters on three lines. (The message will be inscribed
subject to review by the Commission.)
We
will try to honor wishes for where the bench is to be
placed, pending park management considerations, or patrons may allow us to
select the most appropriate place within the park.
