Trail Crew Member

$11/hour starting
28 hours/week (Tuesday–Friday, occasional scheduled weekend days)

Start Date: Tuesday, April 3
Position guaranteed to run through December

Members of the NJ Palisades Trail Crew are responsible for the maintenance of the Park’s 30+ miles of hiking trails. Crewmembers will be trained on the job in methods of trail maintenance and construction and the safe and proper use of all related equipment, including power tool operation and maintenance, hand tool use and maintenance, basic carpentry, stonework, and highline and rigging operations. Crewmembers will also learn about the ecology, geology, and history of the NJ Palisades. Experience with manual labor is heavily preferred.

Crewmembers will be trained on the job in methods of trail maintenance and the safe and proper use of all related equipment, including trail clearing methods and power tool operation, hand tool use, basic carpentry, and stone wall construction. Crewmembers will also learn about the ecology, geology, and history of the NJ Palisades. Experience with manual labor is preferred, though not required.
