Fort Lee Historic Park is now seeking applicants for this position:
Educator, Historical Interpreter (Seasonal Employment)
Position available at Fort Lee Historic Park interpreting, participating in, and supporting a variety of 18th-century demonstrations and special events. $18 per hour, max. 28 hours per week.
Duties & Requirements:
- Working with children (grade 5 and up) in our 4 ½ -hour outdoor educational program Wednesday-Friday.
- Weekend interpreting on the grounds for the public. Interpret the huts, blockhouse, and artillery batteries.
- Must be proficient or willing to learn how to use 18th-century weapons (cannon firing, musket demonstration), tools and equipment. Training will be provided.
- Must be able to work weekends and some holidays.
- Ability to perform physical work, lift 50 + lbs., and work outdoors in all kinds of weather.
- Must keep accurate records, answer calls, handle gift shop, and give directions and park information.
- Maintain the Visitor Center desk and greet visitors.
- Light maintenance work on park grounds. Splitting firewood, litter removal, removing sticks that have fallen along the walkways and painting.
- Must have a special interest in history, education, museum studies, performing arts, or a related field.

- Assist with food preparation and service.
- Help maintain a clean and safe environment for patrons.
