Greenbrook’s position atop the cliffs of the Palisades, overlooking the
Hudson River, provides visitors to the sanctuary with an excellent view of
the annual fall hawk migration.
Although not an official, full time watch, staff and members spend many
hours observing the raptors passing along this portion of the Atlantic
Flyway. The annual fall hawk watch programs at Arboretum Point—a vista 350
feet above the river—have become very popular, enjoyable events for both
the staff and members. As always, visitors are encouraged to post their
observations on the “Wildlife Sightings” bulletin board in the parking area.
The table below is a tabulation of these sightings and staff observations.
