“A Day on the Rocks: A Photographer’s Exploration of the New Jersey Palisades”
Program Description
Among his duties, Operations Supervisor Anthony G. Taranto Jr. has served as our staff photographer since 2002. This has enabled him to photograph the Palisades during all seasons, at all times of day. This unique access forms the basis of a journey through a “day” along the tall cliffs of the Hudson—a day spread across the four seasons. Besides capturing the scenic beauty of this National Natural Landmark, the images invoke the people who come to the park to relax, to exercise, to learn, and to admire the beauty of this “great playground next door.”

“The Unknown Palisades: A Slideshow through Time”
Program Description
Through images and narrative, the story of the Palisades is brought to life. Among the topics covered are the villages that once dotted the shores; the palatial estates that rose on the summit; the epic struggle of the New Jersey Women’s Clubs and others to preserve the cliffs from defacement by massive stone quarries; the bathing beaches and other facilities that ran at full-tilt during the early decades of the twentieth century; the work of the New Deal agencies in the park during the Great Depression; and the oasis that the park has become in today’s busy world.

A New Deal for the Palisades (video with lecture)
Program Description:
Learn about the discovery of lost film footage that led to our video, A New Deal for the Palisades, followed by a screening of the video itself.

Your group must provide a VCR or DVD player and a TV or means of projecting the video (please remember that this video has an audio component—an LCD projector without a sound system is not adequate).
