Fort Lee Historic
Park: “Living History Program”
From September through December and
March through June, schoolchildren in grades
five and up who are
studying the American Revolution and would like to experience life as an
eighteenth-century
soldier–recruit in George Washington’s Continental Army, can visit
Fort Lee Historic Park for a
5-½-hour “living history” program that combines discussion, demonstration, and
hands-on participation to give students a complete learning experience.

Guided
Hiking
Tours
School groups of
all ages can schedule guided hikes and nature walks within the park and led
by our staff. The Palisades are uniquely situated for studying geology and
river ecology, though many topics can be covered (woodland ecology, winter
ecology, history, invasive plant species, etc.). Hikes range from easy to
moderate and can be offered in any part of the park. Subject to staff
availability—please arrange early.

Fees: $35 nonrefundable reservation fee per
class or troop + $2 per participant.

Palisades “Reality” Bus
Tours
General Information
Guided bus tours of the NJ Section, which are
conducted by the staff of the
Kearney House, are offered on weekdays
only. Reservations should be made as early as
possible. A reservation is not complete until the entire fee is
received and processed.
Tours are conducted “drizzle or shine.”
In cases of severe weather, tours will be cancelled (the
determination will be made by 8:30 on the morning of the tour).
Groups are encouraged to select a rain date with their
reservation.
A group must provide the bus and
driver. Only one bus can be accommodated per tour.
Fees
For “jitney”-type buses (up to approx.
20 passengers): $100.00
For school-bus type buses (up to
approx. 40 passengers): $150.00
For tour-bus type buses (up to approx.
50 passengers): $200.00
Notes: Smaller buses are preferred due
to the narrow roads in the park; larger, tour-bus type buses
need to follow an altered route. Reservation fees will
be refunded only due to weather or other conditions and when no
rain date can be established within the calendar year.
